We are still in the cold of winter (well, a lot of people in the US are!) but spring and summer running weather is right around the corner! That means it could be time to buy new clothes and or running shoes for the next running season! Thanks to some larger than normal portal bonuses, you can earn a bunch of miles doing just that!
Earn Miles Buying Running and Fitness Gear
A shopping portal is an extra step in your online shopping pattern. All you need to do is hit an airline shopping portal first (links below) and then follow their links (after signing in) to your favorite retailer to earn miles for that purchase. Today, that retailer that will earn you a nice bundle of miles is Under Armour.
While the Under Armour mileage payouts are normally single digits per dollar, today, you can earn as much as 14 miles per dollar shopping at Under Armour! If you buy running (or any fitness) gear from them, you could earn almost enough for a one way ticket to your next race in the US!
Buying Gear Today Equals Free Tickets Later
This is especially true if you use the American Airlines shopping portal. Even though they offer fewer miles (10 miles per dollar), they also have things called “Web Special” award tickets that let you redeem flights around the US pretty frequently for just 5,000 miles each way! That translates to $500 in spending at Under Armour for a ticket that could cost $250 or more otherwise! Not bad!
The Shopping Deals
So, here are the shopping portal links you need to get started. Remember, you need to have a mileage account with that particular airline before you start earning (free to sign-up for).
Also, both shopping portals have a 400 mile bonus if you spend $200 or more through their portals so that is even more miles!
- United Airlines Mileage Plus – 14 Miles per Dollar at Under Armour
- American Airlines AAdvantage – 10 Miles per Dollar at Under Armour
Again, while the United offer is better, definitely take a look at some of your favorite domestic award routes with American Airlines to see if they have those 5K mileage specials available!
If you use a BofA card you may very well have the Under Armour cashback deal which will stack on top of this. I’ve done this in the past. Under Armour does have a habit of shipping larger orders into smaller orders that are billed separately so you may not get the entire amount on the BofA cash deal since it’s a once per month kind of deal but it can save some additional money.
