Rumors are swirling as sources talk to the media – it appears that the 2020 Boston Marathon may be postponed. Decision to come in 48 hours.

I have been hearing from a ton of marathoners over the last couple of weeks and the one concern/question most had was – what will happen to the Boston Marathon this year? It appears we will know the answer to that in the next 48 hours.

Boston Marathon May Be Postponed? Decision in 48 Hours

Rumors are swirling as sources are talking to media to say that the Boston Marathon will be postponed until the fall, likely a Monday in September. Mayor Walsh just said in an interview that a decision will be made in the next 48 hours regarding whether it will be held as scheduled, postponed, or cancelled. News reports say that it will be sought to make that Monday a holiday as well, like Patriot’s Day in April is.

It should noted that this is how many decisions start – that things are “leaked” to the media to get things ready for the eventual announcement. I would consider it more than just a strong possibility that the 2020 Boston Marathon will be postponed.

This would be the first time that the Boston Marathon had been cancelled or postponed like this. Leaders in all the towns along the marathon route met with the mayor and organizers yesterday to talk about what to do so it is likely we could hear something tomorrow (Friday)

Developing..will update with more information when I get it.
