New York City Marathoners – Want Free Travel?

New York City Marathon

Congrats to the thousands of you who found out this week that you will be running in the New York City Marathon this November! According to the marathon folks, you are one of the 18% of applicants in the lottery who were selected. Now, time to think ahead!

I am sure you are checking your training programs, figuring out goals you may have, getting pumped up in general – all things that come with being selected for a race. And this is not just any race but THE marathon that takes place in one of the greatest cities in the world (I would say THE greatest city but since I am from New York, people may think I am just being biased!).

Free Travel!

So, what is left? The travel! Stats from last year suggest that the average visitor for the marathon spent (for three days) $1,000 in costs, most of which is the travel. How would you like to not have to pay that? In fact, how you would like to get your travel to New York for the marathon (or, really, any other trip to NYC) for almost free?

Just like you prepare with training for the race, there are a few things that you can begin next week to get your trip to New York for next to nothing. Check back on Monday (or Tuesday) to see what you can do to save a lot of money! In many cases, the opportunities I will show you will actually cost you nothing (but the normal segment fees on domestic flights – like $11.20 for a one-way flight with a connection) with some others costing you simply pennies on the dollar.
