There is no denying that many elite members were dismayed when the new World of Hyatt program rolled out. They faced increase night requirements to meet top tier status levels and things like spending for elite credit on the credit card was gone. Now this new card gives you enough points for 2 free nights at top hotels around the world – or enough to do a lot of other point options as well!
New World of Hyatt Credit Card Brings Huge Bonus and Great Benefits

Let’s get to the bonus first – it is way better than the old 2 free nights offer! That is because it comes with 50,000 points which is enough for two free nights at Category 7 properties! But it is also in points so they don’t expire and you can use them for a variety of stay situations (Points+Cash, upgrades, and more). Here are the details on the bonus:
- Earn 25,000 Bonus Points
after you spend $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening - Plus, earn an additional 25,000 Bonus Points after you spend $6,000 total on purchases within the first 6 months of account opening
- $95 annual fee
That totals 50,000 points after spending a total of $6,000 over the first 6 months. In the credit card bonus world for spending, that is not much at all!
More Free Nights
Like before, it comes with an anniversary free night at Category 1 – 4 but it also lets you get another free night. To get the second free night, you will need to spend $15,000 in a year. And, remember, these free nights now count towards elite credits!
Spending Benefits
Speaking of spending, Hyatt has put back in spending for elite nights! The card comes with the basic elite level of Discoverist but now gives cardholders some new perks.
- You receive 5 qualifying night credits toward your next tier status every year.
- Plus, earn 2 additional qualifying night credits toward your next tier status every time you spend $5,000 on your card
That is with no cap! So, you could spend your way all the way to Globalist status, if you wanted. If you are starting from scratch, that is $140,000 in spending to reach Globalist status. Yeah, quite high. But, at least you can now use spending to supplement your actual stays at Hyatts.
They are also upping the earning on spending at Hyatt properties – 4 points per dollar. That makes it a nice choice for spending at Hyatts.
But, the other spending categories are not as appealing to people that have other point earning cards – with one exception.
- 2X on Airfare, taxis, mass transit, tolls and ride-share services
- 2X at Restaurants, cafés and coffee shops
- 2X at Fitness club and gym memberships
That last one is part of Hyatt’s expansion into the wellness and fitness space for members so I am happy to see that one here!
All in all, this is a very impressive hotel credit card launch by Hyatt. I am happy to see them working forward and providing more value through their credit card to members.
Just called to switch to this. They were able to do it instantly. The CSR said I’m the first person they’ve talked to who’s just changed to this product since it was announced at 10ET today.
Great! Did you get the points for switching? I heard from others that you can get 2,000 points for switching.
Yeah, they said I would get the points even though it’s supposed to be targeted
Do you know if this is limited by 5/24? I got an email about it but I’ve been hesitant to do anything with it, just yet.
I have heard that it won’t right now but will in the future.
That makes this really appealing – thanks!
