TripIt Now Comes to MacOS and Apple Computers as an App

They have had smartphone apps and even tablet apps for a while now. However, if you wanted to work from your laptop or desktop, you needed to do it via a web browser (which has worked just fine as well). Not anymore as TripIt is now available on your Apple computer!
This is great news because it is something you can work on without having to be connected to the internet. While the apps on the phones work great, there are times I am adding some events or organizing some of my travel plans in the air and without internet. Being able to do that right in an app on my computer is a great addition to the TripIt family of apps and features. This includes taking advantage of the new features in MacOS like light and dark mode.
This is also helpful since many of us work on a computer for longer projects. Now, you can get your notifications right in the app on your Mac or work on your trip plans on a larger platform. For Apple users, TripIt is now officially everywhere – Siri, Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and now Mac.
Here is what TripIt has to say about the new TripIt app for Mac:
With TripIt, you can keep up with your travel plans whether you’re at your desk or on the go – and even when you’re offline. Quickly make sense of all your travel plans and create a single itinerary for every trip with TripIt. And thanks to seamless synchronization across devices, you can access your travel details on your Mac desktop, iPhone, and Apple Watch.
The TripIt app is just one more way to stay a step ahead, from planning to landing, with the world’s highest-rated travel-organizing app. With TripIt, you’ll get the itinerary-managing power of the highest-rated travel-organizing app right on your desktop:
- A menu bar that makes adding travel plans a breeze, and the availability of more screen real estate and full keyboard for fine tuning itineraries
- Notifications on your desktop so you never miss a beat
- Plane friendly features such as
- Offline access to your travel plans and dark mode
- An enriched pre-trip experience, with access to neighborhood safety scores and links to Maps to help you explore the areas you’ll be visiting
And of course, the TripIt app for Mac has many of the features you already know and love – like:
- Keeping all your plans organized and in one place
- Creating a master itinerary for every trip
- Adding travel plans from your inbox for you
- Seamless synching across devices, so you always know exactly where to be and when
- Showing you real-time flight alerts – for delays, cancellations, or gate changes – right from on your desktop (TripIt Pro users only)
- And so much more
Here is a word from Jen Moyse, the director of product for TripIt from Concur:
“TripIt engineers were able to use our iPad app as a starting point to build our native Mac app, so we were able to focus our development efforts on optimizing for a native Mac experience. For example, we spent a ton of time thinking through what UI opportunities came with a desktop app – things like greater screen real estate, a menu bar, and desktop-specific interactions. We know that these things mean a lot to frequent travelers, who spend a good amount of time toggling between their phones and desktops – and need to be able to access all their travel plans, even when they are offline. The desktop is also where they fine-tune their itineraries, and that’s just easier when you have access to a full-size calendar and maps, you can navigate across multiple windows, and you can more efficiently cut and paste with a keyboard and trackpad. We also believe the inherent speed of a native Mac app will make life easier for our millions of travelers.”
Summary
Others have tried and even Google has gotten into the trip organization game but TripIt continues to be at the front of it with their features and new enhancements. I am very glad to have a computer based app now for my MacBook. It will help to be able to stay organized on a bigger screen and add new trip plans without having to be connected to the internet.
Where did you download it? I can’t find it it in the app store…
thanks
Sorry about that! I just added it to the top of the post!
