There are some big changes coming to the American Express Delta cards early next year (changes can be found here and a post with my thoughts and analysis on them will be coming shortly).
New American Express Delta Card Offers Available
Quick Take: Should You Apply Now?
If you are eligible to get one of these cards and you have been on the fence, I would suggest that now would be a good time since the annual fees will be going up in January. That being said, I would consider passing on the Delta Gold card as there are better offers that come and that fee is just going up $5.
The New Offers
Here they are with their direct application links (I do not receive a commission on any of them):
- Gold Delta Skymiles® Card – 60,000 bonus miles after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months
- Earn a $50 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase in the first 3 months (it can be any purchase, it does not have to be $50 or more)
- Annual fee is $95
- Gold Delta Skymiles® Business Card – 70,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months
- Earn a $50 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase in the first 3 months (it can be any purchase, it does not have to be $50 or more)
- Annual fee is $95
- Platinum Delta Skymiles® Card – 75,000 bonus miles after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months
- You will also earn 5,000 elite (MQM) miles with that spending as well
- Earn a $100 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase in the first 3 months
- Annual fee is $195
- Platinum Delta Skymiles® Business Card – 80,000 bonus miles after spending $6,000 in the first 3 months
- You will also earn 5,000 elite (MQM) miles with that spending as well
- Earn a $100 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase in the first 3 months
- Annual fee is $195
- Delta Reserve® Card – 75,000 bonus miles after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months
- You will also earn 10,000 elite (MQM) miles with that spending as well
- Annual fee is $450
- Delta Reserve for Business – 80,000 bonus miles after spending $6,000 in the first 3 months
- You will also earn 10,000 elite (MQM) miles with that spending as well
- Annual fee is $450
I would say that the best card offer amongst the bunch would be the Delta Reserve Business card. It offers 5,000 additional miles for only $1,000 more in spending and you get 10,000 elite miles. That would leave you 15,000 miles from getting Delta Silver status (not much but certainly better than nothing!).
However, also consider that the annual fee is waived the first year on the Gold cards so that 60,000 mileage amount would cost you nothing in terms of fees. But, again, there have been better offers on that card.
