A couple of hours ago, I wrote about the report that Google Fi was expanding to iPhones and most android phones. The official word is here and it is true!

Google Fi is Coming to iPhone and Most Android Phones

Link: Sign-Up for Google Fi (and get $20 credit!) and I get credit as well – thank you!

The good news is that this is here now! Check out your app store to get the link to download the new Google Fi app! For iPhone, it is still in a beta stage so you will need to take some extra steps but this is still fantastic news!

From the announcement:

Now, you can sign up for Fi with popular Android phones (including many Samsung, LG, Moto and OnePlus devices) and with iPhones (in beta). Since this is the first time Google Fi is available for iPhones, there are a few extra steps to get set up, which we’ll walk you through in the Google Fi iOS app. No matter what phone you use with Fi, you’ll get great Fi features—like reliable coverage, easy group plans, and high speed international data coverage for the same rates you pay at home. Plus, as always with Fi, there are no contracts and zero hidden fees.

Some plan features will depend on the Android or iOS device you use. So if you’re looking for the full Google Fi experience, including Fi’s unique technology to seamlessly switch between multiple cellular networks, you can use a phone designed for Fi—like the Pixel 3, Moto G6, and any other phone available on the Google Fi website. These phones include special hardware and software to move effortlessly between Google Fi’s networks and provide you with even more security and reliability through Fi’s new enhanced network feature.

Get Free Travel Gift Cards!

As noted in the terms below, the offer for gift cards had expired (in fact, they pulled it early – see “Wow, Humans Surprised Google” for more info). Now, it is just Google Fi credit.

If you buy a phone from Google today, you will get the value of the phone in travel gift cards for Airbnb, Delta Air Lines, and Southwest Airlines. That means up to $999 in gift cards if you go for the high end Google Pixel 3 XL!

Or, if you prefer, you can bring your own phone, sign-up today for Google Fi, and get $200 Google Fi credit! Here are the terms for that offer:

Limited time offer applies to any customer new to Fi who signs up for Google Fi between 11/28/18 8:00 AM PT through 11/28/18 11:59 PM PT, activates their compatible device that was not purchased at or by 12/28/18 11:59 PM PT and remains active for 30 consecutive days. See eligible phones here.

To qualify for the service credit, activation must be for full service (i.e., activation does not apply to a data-only SIM). Afterwards, a service credit will be applied to the purchaser’s Fi account. Customer will receive an email notifying them of the service credit after all terms and conditions have been satisfied, and the credit will be applied to the customer’s subsequent bills around 45 – 60 days after activation. If the account is paused, credits will only appear once the account is reactivated. Service credits will be applied only toward monthly service costs such as data, calls, texts, and device protection; they cannot be applied device purchase or financing.

New Google Fi users must transfer (port-in) their current personal number over to Google Fi during sign up. The number being transferred must be currently active and have been active with the previous carrier and the user since 8/28/18 12:00 AM PT.

Limit one per person. This offer is only available for U.S. residents ages 18 and older, and requires Google Payments and Google Fi accounts. Unless otherwise stated, offer cannot be combined with other offers. Offer and service credits are not transferable, and are not valid for cash or cash equivalent. Void where prohibited.

Sign-Up for Google Fi Today!

There is no reason to not sign up today since you can cancel after the 30 consecutive days (but you probably won’t want to). If you wanted, you could even buy a new Google phone and flip it, getting the gift cards at a discounted price.

I am thrilled that this is here! I cannot wait to try it out!
