There was some noise yesterday about increased offers coming on the Hilton credit cards – and those offers are here! This one is for 125,000 Hilton points which is a nice chunk of Hilton points to get you some free nights at any of thousands of hotels around the world. This offer drops the free night after the first year but increases the point amount – is it better?

Is This 125,000 Point Hilton Ascend Offer Worth It?

There are two main differences between this offer and the previous high offer on this card – this one drops the spending requirement to $2,000 (from $3,000) and it drops the free weekend night earned after 1 year to substitute 25,000 additional points.

I personally think this offer is better for this reason – even though a free weekend night could potentially be worth 95,000 Hilton points (if redeemed at the top tier properties), you will need to pay the second annual fee of $95 to get that night.

With this offer, you get 25,000 points instead which gives you a bit of flexibility – use the points to pay outright for a low category room or use the points in a money and points mix to decrease the out-of-pocket cost to you for a hotel room. Plus, if you wanted to downgrade to the no-fee Amex Hilton card after the first year, you get to keep that extra $95 in your pocket.
