$20 back on $20

Another great Amex Offer popped up today – spend $20 or more at samsclub.com and receive a $20 statement credit. This is widely available and available on all of my Amex cards.

$20 Back On $20 At Sams Club W/ Amex Offers

Accessing the Amex Offer

Log in to your American Express account and click on any of the cards you have in the account. Scroll down to the Offers portion and you should see the following offer waiting for you!

$20 back on $20

Here are the details:

  • Must be used by September 30, 2015
  • Must be used on Samsclub.com
  • Enrollment limited (in other words, save this offer to your card right now!)

To maximize itadd the offer to separate cards, simply login to your American Express account and then choose to duplicate the tab (if using Google Chrome) as many times as you have cards. Once they are all open, select a different Amex card in each tab and select to save the offer to the card.

Gift Cards?

$20 back on $20

No statement credit on gift cards

I did a test run and bought a iTunes gift card (nice price – $50 card for $42 before any offer). The problem is that it appeared on my Amex card as Samsclub.com online photo. That is specifically one of the areas of samsclub.com that the offer does exclude from being valid. That is a big bummer. Southwest cards are listed at $3 off per $100 so this would have made for a 23% discount on all Southwest airfare if purchased using these gift cards.

I also bought regular Sams Club gift cards and they too rang up the same way, so it appears as if there will not be a $20 discount on gift cards!

Not A Member?

If you are not yet a member, check out this fantastic deal I wrote about the other day where you will essentially get a membership for free after all the stuff they give you.

Terms (bolding mine)

Valid only at samsclub.com. Not valid in Club. Enrollment limited. Offer excludes phone orders, Sam’s Club Pickup program orders that are paid for in Club, Sam’s Club online photo purchases, Sam’s Club prescription drug purchases, Sam’s Club travel offers, Sam’s Club Payroll Services, Samsclubauto.com, Samsclubstationery.com, Samsclubchecks.com, Samsclubcontacts.com. If you order an item during the offer period but it is not sent until after 9/30/2015, it may not count towards determining whether the purchase qualifies for the offer. See merchant website for shipping guidelines. Must add offer to Card and use same Card to redeem. Limit 1 statement credit per American Express Card across all American Express offer channels. Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 9/30/2015, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. Note that American Express may not receive information about your qualifying purchase from merchant until all items from your qualifying purchase have been provided/shipped by merchant. Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is returned/cancelled. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. In addition, in most cases, you will not receive the statement credit if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it.

  • It’s wider than gift cards. People are reporting standard purchase also showing up that way. My experience is that even if the credits don’t post, Amex is very good about applying the credit without a fight. However, if you have a third party bank that issues Amex, this might be an uphill battle, as I don’t see how contacting Amex would work. Let’s relax and wait and see how the final transaction posts.

  • You do NOT have to be a Sam’s Club member to use this promo! From the enrollment email from Amex:

    Congrats! You’re enrolled.

  • @ Charles,

Some folks on SD and drofcredit post have reported that now the code of the gift card purchased has been changed from “online photo” to regular Sam’s Club purchases. Can you please confirm that your transaction code for the iTunes gift cards also has been changed as well and that means that it will be eligible for Amex Offer’s $20 statement credit?

    • Hi, John,
I have seen that happen with both the iTunes gift card and the Sams Club gift card (it now says samslcub.com). I am holding off doing an update until I see the credit show. So, hopefully, I can report something tomorrow!
