The other day, I wrote about eBay offering bonus miles through an airline shopping portal but that has increased to be offered at two airlines – Alaska Airlines and American Airlines, . Not only that, but there is a targeted eBay Bonus Bucks that has launched (yesterday) and the possibility of earning Ultimate Reward points as well!
Earn 3X Airline Miles
To begin, go through one of the shopping portals that are offering the increased mileage opportunities. There are other portals that will give you points/cashback on eBay as well but they are at 1% or .5 mile so American or Alaskan would be best.
These bonuses will not last long so take advantage of them today! The terms say this:

eBay Bucks [Targeted]
This one is targeted, but it has been available to a good many people so you may have it. Unlike the last couple, it is a tiered offering – 2X (4%) for $50+, 3X (6%) for $100+, and 4X (8%) for $150+. You will need to activate this offer so look for the e-mail (Earn Up To 4X eBay Bucks) to click the link and activate it. This is good for items paid for by 11:59PM PT today (9/23).
Ultimate Reward Points
This one has been around for a while but is good to take note of if you really want to bulk up your point earning. Gift cards that have been purchased from PayPal Digital Gifts have been earning 5X Ultimate Reward points when you use a Chase Ink card to pay for them. Not quite sure why it is categorized this way but it is! This could change at some point, but as of last week, it is still going on. So, if you are going to use the two deals above to buy some gift cards from PayPal Digital Gifts, make sure you use your Chase Ink card!
Putting It All Together – Serious Savings On Airfare
Buy airline gift cards and earn more miles and points!
Now, the item that I like for this deal combo the best is the American Airline gift cards (make sure you do not buy through this link but use one of the portal links above!). They are sold by PayPal Digital Gifts so you should receive the 5X Ultimate Reward points on them.
Plus, if you go through one of the shopping portal links above, you will earn 3X miles on the purchase! If you have been targeted for the eBay Bucks offer as well, you will earn bonus Bucks with that as well.
To put it together, if you buy $200 in AA gift cards, you should earn:
- 1,000 Ultimate Reward points (I would value around $19 worth)
- $16 in eBay Bucks for future purchases
- 6oo AA or Alaska miles (both worth about $9-$10)
- That totals about $45 in return value for $200 in future AA travel!
If we assigned all of those earnings at a measly 1 cent per point value, it would still allow you to earn a $32 rebate in various forms from $200 in American Airline gift cards. Not bad!
That isn’t bad at all! Now just put it together or go out and shop for whatever else you have been “needing” from eBay!
PayPal isn’t letting me checkout anyone have same issue?
I had problems too and had to call PayPal to get them to unlock the account. Try that.
Has anyone had success using more than 1 American Airlines gift card for a single reservation? I’m about to book a $400 fare and am wondering if the reservation website will allow me to enter four separate $100 gift cards as payment (or is it limited to one gift card)? TIA
The last I knew, you could use 4 gift cards per reservation. I will try to find that.
