You may never have heard of the Anker Nebula Capsule but you have likely heard of Anker. They are an incredible manufacturer that really puts out some great portable power solutions. Well, this product is also a great portable product – but for entertainment or business!

Projector Deal #1 – The Anker Nebula Capsule

Today only, you can get the great Anker Nebula Capsule at its lowest price yet – just $225!

What Is the Anker Nebula Capsule?

The Anker Nebula Capsule is a portable projector that just destroys other mini projectors. I found I needed a projector for a presentation a few months ago and checked out a bunch at the local Best Buy. It had been years since I even looked at the projector market so I wasn’t sure the mini projectors had improved that much.

After looking at a lot of reviews, I found that the mini projectors really hadn’t come as far as I had hoped. I needed a small projector that would allow me project a video file without needing to hook up a DVD player or computer. I also really wanted it to have speakers built-in to allow me to skip hooking it up to the sound system. Finally, I needed it to be bright enough for a room with up to 150 people in it.

It comes with:

  • The familiar Anker carrying bag
  • A remote (though you can also use your smartphone and the Capsule app to control it)
  • An OTG cable (to hook up your USB device to deliver the content)
  • Power adapter

The Anker Nebula Capsule

Tough call, right? Well, I ended up going with the Anker Nebula Capsule for two reasons – it was eligible to be delivered the same day from Amazon and it was from Anker, a company I love. After getting the Anker Nebula Capsule and getting it setup, I was blown away!

Media Connections

Anker Nebula Capsule

There are many ways to get your content to the Anker Nebula Capsule

This little thing is an entertainment monster that runs on an Android system that allows you to actually add media apps to it! Plus, you can hook up the included USB cable to connect it to a portable drive or USB thumb drive. You can also stream to it from your mobile device.

It comes with Netflix and Youtube already installed. That means you can connect to an internet connection and stream content from online – while operating off the built-in batter for up to 4 hours! You can hold it, place it on a table, or put it on a stand with the built-in threaded port on the bottom.

Picture and Audio

This autocorrects the picture extremely well. You can hold it at whatever angle works and it will auto-align the keystone for you. There is a small focus wheel on the side that lets you adjust for a crisp picture.

The little built-in speaker allows for 360 projection of sound and I was able to crank it up and reach the whole room with minimal distortion. This thing really is an incredible tool!

Who Is The Anker Nebula Capsule For?

So, why do I saw business and personal entertainment? For starters, I have used it for both! It just works as a small projector that is solidly built and can go anywhere. With it being battery operated, you don’t have to worry about finding an outlet when you have to show a presentation on the go.

For personal entertainment, it works great for hotels! When we were traveling as a family, it was a much better solution than the TVs in the room! We would simply power up Netflix and point it at an empty wall – voila! Nice big picture with very good sound and we did not have to mess with the TV.

It can actually work pretty well in airports also. 🙂 Yes, it is not going to be so strong in brightly lit areas but if you find a dimmer area of the airport, you can just put up your own movie on the wall for kids!

Negative Points?

Brightness

It is rated at 100ANSI lumens (pretty good for something this small) so do not count on it being really bright in a very lit room. Also, it is not HD resolution but 854×480. That is quite a bit less than Full HD. However, the picture is still really good! When you are projecting a large image, you are likely sitting back a bit further so you may not really notice the picture not being high def. You won’t be replacing your home media center (especially if you have 4K!) but this is a great device for on the go.

I found it to be perfect for all the situations I would want a small projector for – just understand its limitations.

Battery Charging Time

Another negative (but, again, to be expected) – the battery will take several hours to charge. Do not think this is some fast charging unit. When you are done with it, plug it in and let it go until you need it again. The cool thing is you can just hit the power button to see what percentage it is at.

Output Connections

Finally, there are no output connections. That means you cannot hook up to a sound system. To me, this is kind of disappointing since the picture is great for larger rooms. While the 5W speakers do a good job, it would be nice to connect to a mixer to get some better sound. But, again, this thing is really about portability so if you are presenting in rooms for under 100 people, you will probably never have a problem.

Projector Deal #2 – Anker Nebula Mars II

If you want a projector with some more “oomph” in both the video and audio categories, you may want to consider spending an extra $100 for the Anker Nebula. This is the big brother (in every way) to the Capsule and comes with the same, great battery life of 4 hours.

It will basically come down to this – do you want higher quality in a package that is still battery operated or do you want extreme portability? I used the Anker Nebula Capsule in a room for about 130-150 people with the sound and it worked much better than I had thought! However, to make the experience for that many people even better, the Nebula Mars II (not to be confused with the Mars Lite) is for you.

In terms of brightness, it delivers with 300 ANSI power (vs the 100 of the Capsule). With the audio, you are getting 10 watts of sound projection from 2 speaker components vs the single 5 watt speaker on the Capsule.

  • I looked at the Anker, which would be great for at-home use. Anker has a sound reputation, For international use, I’m partial to the separate adapters that come with the unit. I was hoping Anker would make one, but alas… so the YXwin filled the void.
