It is that time of year again! Everyone that has driven (or will drive) their rental cars from their home to Arizona will soon be flying back home. Since they won’t be driving those rental cars out, car rental companies are looking for other travelers that like hot deals and one way rentals also – just out of Arizona!
One-Way Car Rental Deals from Arizona
This normally happens with one-way car rentals out of both Arizona and Florida. At this time, it is just Arizona and just a couple of companies. Still, the rates are really good right now (depending on where you are dropping the car) and this can be a great time to make your own road trip of sorts!
Alamo Car Rental Deal for One Way from Arizona

Here are the details for the Alamo car rental deal out of Arizona:
- Offer valid for one-way rentals picked up at participating Arizona locations and returned to a participating Alamo location in the Continental US outside of the state of Arizona.
- Offer valid for reservations picked up between April 1-May 17th, 2020 from the following participating Arizona locations: Phoenix, Mesa, Peoria, Scottsdale, Tempe, Prescott, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Casa Grande, and Tucson.
- Offer rate as low as $29.99 base rate per day applies to an Economy through Full Size vehicle and Intermediate SUV, as low as $34.99 base rate per day applies to Minivans and $49.99 base rate per day applies to Standard SUVs.
- Base rate excludes taxes, fees and surcharges.
Even Sweeter!
Here’s the thing – even though they say the base rate is $29.99 for the cheapest of vehicles, I just booked a minivan for $12 per day before taxes and fees! That is an exceptional deal and it can be had depending on where you drop the vehicle.
My deal was picking the minivan up in Phoenix and dropping it at LAX. Of course, LAX is going to be needing a lot of vehicles so that could be the sweet spot. However, make sure you check other places near you as well for deals of your own!
Another sweet spot is dropping off at LAS since Las Vegas needs a ton of cars as well. In addition, SEA is another city where a drop off there will get you a pickup truck for $80 for a week (pre-tax and fees). So, definitely check out your nearest airport for the drop off.
One more thing – the terms say that the rental deal is only for a minimum of 1 day and a maximum of 14 days. But, my reservation was for 19 days and I had that same rate for the whole thing! Not sure if this is just based on location again or some limited-time thing so act fast! These deals are all brand new today (March 2).
Enterprise Rental Car Deal on One Way From Arizona

Currently, the only other car rental company offering this similar deal is Enterprise. However, I found that (in my test cases) they were much more in line with the rates they talk about in the terms.
- Offer valid for one-way rentals picked up at participating Arizona locations and returned to a participating Enterprise location in the Continental US outside of the state of Arizona.
- Offer valid for reservations picked up between April 1–May 17, 2020 from the following participating Arizona locations: Phoenix, Mesa, Peoria, Scottsdale, Tempe, Prescott, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Casa Grande and Tucson.
Bottom Line
Especially with people avoiding certain places with the coronavirus fear, this could be the perfect time for a road trip to explore the beautiful southwestern US! With up to 2 weeks of travel with these deals, you are sure to be able to enjoy a great time!
My suggestion? Book now and figure out the rest later! As long as you don’t prepay, you won’t face any cancellation fees if you decide not to take it. But, once these deals get out, the car you want may no longer be available at these prices! Just yesterday, my car reservation for our family trip (a minivan) as $799 for the 19 days. Today, it was $434 after the taxes and fees for the same trip.
Would you expect FL to be added later?
Definitely! Every year, around this time, the Florida deals come out and they are typically even better than the Arizona ones. My favorite is to book with National since you can pick pretty much any car!
How do you find out if there are any deals form airports that I might visit in the future?
Each rental company has a link for “specials” but they are often not very location specific and also not very “special.” The best is Dollar with some of their location specials and sometimes Alamo as well.
