The Reykjavik Marathon will take place on August 23. I ran this race last year and found it to be an awesome race in a beautiful place! One of the great things about this race is that it is in a beautiful European country that is only a few hours from the US. That makes it incredibly convenient for East Coast runners.
Award Availability for the Reykjavik Marathon
Delta flies non-stop from JFK to Reykjavik in five and a half hours. That is very similar to flying to Los Angeles from JFK, so it is not that bad of a trip! Availability for award flights on Delta to Reykjavik is not great, but there are some seats available if you move quickly! It is only 60,000 miles and $50 for a round-trip ticket. The availability kind of forces you to go for a week, but that is a nice problem to have! Iceland is beautiful and you could certainly take a week to explore and relax in a place that will only see a few hours of darkness during your trip.
In a future post, I will talk about some other ways of getting and staying in Reykjavik but wanted to get this out now in case any of you were thinking about it. Time to start booking if you are on the fence! It is a fantastic place to visit and a really great race. I may have some more interesting information about it in the coming weeks. 🙂
I would love to see a trip report of iceland!
One is coming – I promise! Trip reports are the hardest things for me to get done. 🙂
