Amazon Prime is a membership tool that has been growing with its benefits over the last years. With things like streaming video, sharing of ebooks, streaming music, unlimited photo storage and more, Amazon Prime is a great resource for people that like taking advantage of those perks. Of course, Prime originally started as a way to bring you your items quicker for free (with the Prime membership which costs $99 per year). That was the free 2-day shipping on items sold by or fulfilled by Amazon. For a simple $3.99, you could get the item the very next day – even on large items like TVs!
Amazon Prime Increases Value With Same-Day Delivery
Today, Amazon has made it even easier for people in the largest metropolitan areas to get what they want almost instantly with same-day delivery. On orders over $35, it is delivered the same day for free. On orders under $35, it costs Prime members $5.99 and starts at $9.98 for non-members. This will not be available on every item but will be on items marked “FREE Same-Day” on the item page. Amazon says they have over a million items available with this new delivery timetable. As long as you are in the qualifying zip codes, you will get it by 9PM if ordered by noon.
Since the major cities this is present in are places where it may take some time and transport to get to various stores where people may want to shop for a particular item, having this new same day service is sure to be a big help. Imagine if you are headed out on a trip the next day? In such a case, overnight is not soon enough so this new same-day service is perfect. Go here to check your zip code and see the details. Sorry Chicago – no same day delivery for you right now!
That they do not charge on orders over $35 (it does not have to be a single item – it is for orders over $35) really does increase the value of Prime since even overnight shipping costs from $3.99. If you are in any of the following cities, enjoy your newest Amazon Prime perk!

- Baltimore
- Boston
- Dallas/Ft. Worth
- Indianapolis
- Los Angeles
- New York City

We’ve had PrimeNow here in Austin the last 2 months or so. Not sure if that’s the same thing as what you’re talking about, as the pricing model is much different. Minimum order here is $15, and 2 hour delivery is free. For delivery within the hour, it’s $8.99. Strange, but not complaining. 🙂
