I am a big fan of airport-connected hotels. For me, it is just that peace of mind of not dealing with traffic or with shuttle services that make loops to other hotels. Also, airport connected hotels give those extra few minutes that can be spent on things like a nice workout or rest instead of leaving the airport. So, travelers through Minneapolis-St. Paul, you will get some of that soon!
An Airport-Connected Intercontinental is About to Open at MSP
Link: MSP Intercontinental
The opening date for the MSP Intercontinental is August 1 and rooms start at $159 per night. At present, there are no reward nights available and I am not sure yet what point range it will come in at. With that price point, my guess would be 35,000 – 40,000 points per night.
The hotel is connected directly to Terminal 1 and has its own private TSA security line (similar to the Westin in DTW). Another nice thing to save you some more time!
They will have a fitness center that you can rent for $25 per day, should you find yourself with a long layover and you want to get a workout in.
Airport-connected hotels are great for families as well if you need to catch an early flight out, you have a late-arriving flight, or you just have a really long layover. We have used airport-connected hotels for each of those situations in the past. I normally do not travel through MSP (and never for international flights), but should I in the future need it, I am glad that the new Intercontinental will be there!
Wow MSP went for the high end 5 star hotel. Good for them. And the price is reasonable too.
I detest Delta, but this would actually make me slightly more inclined to fly them. Kudos to MSP.
