A New Marriott/SPG Moments “Fantastic” Site Coming with More “Exciting” Events

Call me a skeptic, but I always get nervous when airlines/hotels/companies talk in glowing language about something they are changing. Yet, that is what we have here with the new Marriott and SPG Moments site. What will it offer?

SPG Moments had long been an incredible way to get some truly epic experiences using only points. Even thought SPG points were the most valuable points currency around, the SPG Moments still offered some attractive values to make redeeming for them a great option.

In fact, my favorite SPG redemption of all time was Moments package (and had some great redemption value with other packages as well).

Even after SPG and Marriott came together, they still kept the sites separate. This worked out great for people that may want a better deal or may have missed a package they want.

However, it looks like the sites will be merging and Marriott is promising a site “full of more exciting events than ever before.” I really hope this is the case and that these events are ones that will still be attractive for points.

The Huge Value Can Be in the Lodging, Not the Event (Please Don’t Change This, Marriott!)

Remember, many times it is not about the event or the headline item, it can be about the hotel. I have seen some packages go for less than one night at the host hotel would go for with points – and people would get 2 nights and in an upgraded room with meals! So, who cares if you don’t like that to make sweets, you still should check out each event!

Hopefully, they will continue to introduce running events as packages but my hope is that they will give us more time before the ending and the event to actually make them useful to marathoners.

My final hope is that Marriott Moments will not go the way of the Hyatt packages. That is not something that most of us are interested int!
