As Amazon’s Gold Box Deal of the Day, you can purchase a really nice tablet for $140 off the regular price – the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9″. This is a great price, but the tablet is the previous generation 8.9″ model (with the latest model just coming out this fall). It is still a very good product and one that should certainly meet your needs for a tablet and do so at a great price.
– Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9″ Purchase Link – Price from $259 – $289 (I receive a commission if you purchase this – thank you!)
The regular price on this tablet is $399 for the 32GB model and $439 for the 64GB model (both WiFi versions). Today only, you can get the 32GB for $259 or the 64GB for $289. That is a really decent price on a high resolution tablet with some serious space on it.
Comparing Apples and Oranges Kindles
I know Amazon tablets and Apple tablets are comparing apples and oranges because of their respective app stores, but to compare the two for what you get for just basic specs, this deal crushes the Apple pricing. For $289, you get a high resolution Amazon tablet that fits between the size of the iPad mini retina and the iPad Air. The cheapest price on a 64GB iPad Air (last year’s model) is $449 and the same for last year’s iPad mini retina. So, you are getting the same space on a tablet for $160 less than Apple charges on sale. Not bad!
But What About Black Friday?!
This would make a great tablet for personal use, for on the road, or for a gift. I know what many people think – what about Black Friday? The good news is that Amazon has a very generous return policy (30 days) but they make it even more generous during the holiday season. If you were to purchase one of these today, you would have until January 31, 2015 to return it!
Don’t Forget 5X Points!
If you want to maximize your point earning with these Amazon deals that keep rolling out, consider using your Chase Freedom card (update coming today) which will earn 5X points at Amazon (up to $1,500 spent). Another way to earn 5X Ultimate Reward points is to purchase Amazon gift cards at a store like Office Max/Office Depot or Staples with your Chase Ink Plus (or the now-discontinued Chase Ink Bold) and use those for your Amazon purchases. I do that all the time and have racked up some serious UR points this way.
