I was just asked yesterday when I thought the Southwest cards would bump back up to 60,000 points. My answer had been that I figured it would be October but I am glad to say I was wrong! All 3 Southwest cards are back so time to consider your Southwest options – if you are eligible (and not under the Chase 5/24).

That’s right – every Southwest card is offering 60,000 points after meeting the minimum spending. Unfortunately, they do fall under the Chase 5/24 so if you have 5 or more new accounts (with any issuer) in the last 24 months, you will be denied for these cards. Also, you cannot have received the bonus on the card you apply for within the previous 24 months and cannot currently hold it.
If you are ok with those details above and are able to get these cards, this is a fantastic deal. Normally, we see the 50,000 point offers around October which would allow you to time your earning of the points to coincide with the new year and give you 2 full years of the Southwest Companion Pass. But, that requires a little extra spending to hit the required 110,000 points for the Southwest Companion Pass.
With these offers, you only need to do the spending required by the card for the bonus points and you are done!

I wouldn’t apply now because the bonus points would hit before the end of the year and then the pass would only be valid until end 2018
