As I mentioned before, Amex has lowered the spending requirements on the SPG personal card from $5,000 in 6 months to $3,000 in 3 months. Not only that, but they have done away with the tiered bonus structure – instead of getting the 25,000 point bonus in two parts, it all comes together after meeting the spending. Now, you can get that with the business card as well!

In my previous post, I wrote how I was not a big fan of that new spending structure but there are obviously a lot of people who are going to appreciate the lower spending threshold for the bonus points. So, because of that, I wanted to show you how you can get the same lower spending requirement for the SPG business card.

The SPG business card’s current public offer is the same as the older offer for the personal card – get 10,000 points after your first purchase and then an additional 15,000 points after spending $5,000 in 6 months. However, there is a way to get the same extra $3,000 in 3 months offer that the personal card has. The answer is in the referral offers from current business card owners.

If you know of someone who has a SPG business Amex card, they can send you the new lower offer application using just your e-mail address. If you are looking to spend less to get the bonus, this could be a big help to you. Just remember, as I mentioned before, we could see the normal increase to 30,000 points at some point over the next few months so I would only apply now if you really want the points now.

One more bit of good news – since it is a business card, as long as you have not had the SPG business card in at least 12 months, you are free and clear to apply again and get the bonus. This is great for past customers as it gives you another shot at earning a good amount of SPG points with a sign-up bonus.
