Summary
Even if some of the places do not interest you, check to see what the terms say about gift cards, if they process them directly or through a third party and if you can flip them. That could help you make a bit of money while also getting spending.
Or, just buy gift cards for future use. That is what I do with most of the gift cards I buy as there are certain places that I always spend money and I love getting the simplicity of saving money on the face value of a gift card.
For the Doubletree one, it says excludes advance purchase rates? Is this accurate? Or should I not worry about it since usually any purchase will trigger credit.
My guess is advance purchase rates are more likely processed by a third-party booker (Expedia, Orbitz, etc.) so that wouldn’t qualify. Odd though since they could just say “paid for directly with the hotel” or something to cover that.
