A great deal today from Amazon with the sale of the Garmin Forerunner 920XT! It is available in many configurations and at great prices for all athletes!

Yesterday, Amazon had a pretty nice deal on a few Tumi bags and Crocs. Today, they are really giving us a nice deal with the Garmin Forerunner 920XT. Yes, that is a long name, but it is a fantastic, feature-filled watch!

Garmin Forerunner 920XT on Sale – Great GPS Watch!

The Garmin Foreunner 920XT is the last Garmin I owned before I moved to the Garmin Fenix 3 (I was looking for a watch that could double as my everyday watch). The Garmin Forerunner 920XT is made with the triathlete in mind but it is good for just running as well. It has great battery life (up to 24 hours of regular GPS use and up to 40 hours with UltraTac mode) so you can go a lot longer on a single charge. It also is a great watch to choose if you run ultramarathons as those can easily keep you out on the trail for 10 hours or more (which is past the normal battery life of other GPS watches).

What the Garmin Forerunner 920XT Gives You

The weight of the watch is minimal, especially given the good size of the screen. It is comfortable to wear with a nice band and the screen is definitely easy to see at any point during your workout. If you are a swimmer, this has some amazing metrics for swimmers (sorry, I am not so I can comment on this from personal use) as well as having good features for those who ride.

I used it 100% for running and it did everything I needed plus gave me a ton of metrics when paired with the HRM-Run strap – things like ground contact time, cadence, vertical oscillation, and even a VO2 Max estimation. It also helps with Recovery Advisor to take stock of your workout and suggest how much downtime you should have before your next intense workout. It also gives you information on your recovery when you begin your next run.

It will also connect with your smartphone to enable you to receive smart notifications during your workouts and if you are just wearing it. I know many people  like to run and unplug, but it is nice to be able to just look down when it alerts you to a phone call, e-mail, or text if you are waiting for something important. It can also notify you of any other notifications you have set up on your phone from other apps.

If it was not for the fact that I was wanting a watch that would serve me in everyday wear, I would have kept the Garmin Forerunner 920XT. I had no problems with it at all!

Which One to Buy?

In today’s Deal of the Day, there are a few different configurations available. If you are a swimmer, you will likely want to go for the top end one has it has a heart rate strap that works underwater. It also has a quick release kit for your bike.

But, for everyone else, I would suggest the middle configuration as that includes that HRM-Run strap for only $40 more than the basic configuration. If you wanted to buy that strap later, it will cost you a lot more than that. You could use an older Garmin heart rate monitor but you will not be able to get the running metrics that the HRM-Run strap will give you.
