Disclosure: I do not receive a commission from these cards.

Back in January, I wrote about the awesome 80K credit card bonus offer for IHG hotels. It had been around for a while and I had mentioned it before, but I really wanted people to be prepared for the IHG Point Break hotel lists that come out every couple of months (Point Break hotels are specially selected IHG properties that go for 5,000 points per night for a set span of time.

Unfortunately, the original card I had written about has no longer been working. I replaced the links in that post for the new Mastercard in hope that it would yield people the same amount of points. Well, according to this thread over on Flyertalk, it seems to be alive and working nicely!

80K points

application link – Chase IHG Rewards Club Mastercard – 80,000 points after spending $1,000 in 90 days (I do not receive a commission for this card)

There is one major thing to remember when applying through the link for the 80K points – there is no landing or offer page for this link. It takes you directly to the application page (which states nothing about the bonus). However, the posters on Flyertalk have said that they had applied and then confirmed with Chase reps (or in their actual experience) that they did have the 80K points.

There is really no downside of applying through this link. At the worst, you will receive the publicly available 60K points. If, for some reason, you do not receive any bonus points, you can contact Chase and you will be matched to the 60K points (or, maybe even the 80K point offer). Chase is really great about matching your offer to the best, currently available offer, so you should be all set.

If you are a bit nervous about applying without a page that spells out the whole bonus offer, there is the public 60K point option. This card gives all of the same benefits as the 80K card but with only 60K points.

IHG 80K Card Benefits (60K Card has the same benefits but fewer points)

Card Features:

  • Receive 80,000 points after spending $1,000 in 90 days
  • $0 INTRODUCTORY ANNUAL FEE THE FIRST YEAR, THEN $49.
  • 10% REBATE ON IHG REWARDS CLUB POINT REDEMPTIONS For example, if you redeem 30,000 points, you will receive 3,000 back!
  • ANNUAL FREE NIGHT WORLDWIDE
  • NO FOREIGN TRANSACTION FEES
  • PLATINUM ELITE STATUS As a IHG® Rewards Club credit cardmember, you qualify for an upgrade to IHG® Rewards Club Platinum Elite status for as long as you remain a cardmember.

Getting The Bonus Again

Historically, Chase treats cards that switch credit networks as different products (when it comes to eligiblity for the bonus). Because of that, if you have had the Chase Visa IHG (or Priority Club) credit card before, you should be able to get this offer as well. That is because they no longer offer the IHG Visa card – it is now the IHG Mastercard. Let us know below if you have done this and been successful!
