Those of us who chase miles and points could never imagine only having one or two credit cards – I mean, who would do that?! 🙂 With the large amount of credit cards we typically have, whether they are in our wallet or drawer, carrying them is always an issue. Digital methods like Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay may be pretty convenient but there are still many people that are not using those methods (and those suppliers are still trying to entice more customers with gift cards and the like).
LG’s White Card, A New Universal Payment Card, May Be Unveiled This Month
While the concept of a universal payment card, a single card that holds multiple credit/debit card numbers in it for paying on the go, is nothing new, it has not really taken off quite like the electronic Pay systems. Part of that is due to the lack of the EMV (the chips on the newer cards) and similarly equipped terminals as well as general confusion with certain interactions. The Universal Payment Card
While I do use Apple Pay at compatible locations and enjoy it, the thought of having a digital credit card that would work great all the time is really nice and convenient as well. The part that excites me about the not-yet-confirmed LG White Card is that would be made and distributed by a major player in the electronics world. Instead of being a startup or crowdfunded device, LG should have been able to bring some major tech muscle to the table to make this be the best universal payment card yet.
Not only that, they have a huge presence so that should help them in getting the word out and making their card be more familiar to vendors than other cards. According to ETNews, LG has already pre-ordered 50,000 of these White Cards in advance of any announcement they may make.
The rumors are that the LG White Card will be unveiled this month at the Mobile World Congress and be launched in March. None of this has been confirmed by LG but the rumors are pretty strong. If this is true and this area of cards is something you have been interested in, you may want to hold off on any of the other products to see what kind of quality LG may bring to this space. I will be looking forward to seeing what they will be able to do!

What does LG stand for?
Life’s Good – it is a major electronics company that makes televisions, cell phones, portable phones, appliances, and more.
actually, LG stands for lucky goldstar.
That was the original definition, you are right. But, they have changed their marketing to the newer Life’s Good. Not sure when that came about – sounds kind of cheesy the current way, especially for a tech company. 🙂
