In a recent tragedy, two people have been found dead in a JetBlue landing gear department.

Last night, during a routine check,  two dead bodies were found in the wheel well of a JetBlue plane. This is a recent event and post will be updated with information when it becomes available.

Two People Found Dead in JetBlue Landing Gear Compartment

This JetBlue plane is currently in Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida. It was most recently flying as JetBlue flight 1801 from JFK. It arrived in Fort Lauderale at 11:10pm last night.

The bodies were discovered during post-flight inspection. At this time, it is not known how they got there or who they are. According to a report from the FAA back in 2011, about 80% of people who try to stowaway in the landing gear compartment or other external compartments do pass away. Not only is it possible to be crushed by the gear but also the altitude can cause people to lose consciousness due to hypoxia at flight altitudes or the freezing temperatures (it can be between -40 to -70 degrees).

This is certainly a tragedy. Hopefully, this will aid authorities at US airports in tightening up security as this happened just a couple of weeks ago on a United flight as well.
