Insta360 is the company that continues to push the boundaries in the various areas where they have products. They have some amazing 360 degree cameras, as their name indicates. But, they also have some great cameras that fit perfect in every traveler or adventurer’s pocket for the moments when you want to capture those special times (or, even boring, mundane times!). Today, that was pushed further with the release of the Insta360 GO 3.

I reviewed the Insta360 GO 2 a couple of years ago when it came out and it had really improved in some areas where it was needed from the original. Now, the GO 3 has improved itself even more while maintaining its compact, go-anywhere size.
For starters, the Insta360 GO 3 brings up the resolution to 2.7K from the previous 2K. This may not sound like much but it is always a good thing to get an increase in resolution, especially when viewing the footage on the many screens we use today for content consumption.
They have also done away with the clip limitations (previously 5 minutes) and the battery will let you go for up to 45 minutes of recording footage! This is great if you are trying to capture content in one of the various recording modes that Insta360 offers.
To recharge it, you simply slot it into the Action Pod. This is a new addition to this version of the Insta360 GO. Previously, it was simply for charging and could double as a handle and a mini tripod. But, now, the Action Pod does charge the camera (and gives you a total of 170 minutes of battery recording time) and it now offers a 2.2″ flip touchscreen. Previously, the only way you could see what your camera was seeing was to use the app. That’s not always conducive in the environments that the Insta360 GO 2 was built for. Now, you can view it via bluetooth on the Action Pod touchscreen display as well as control it from that as well.
Another addition is another microphone to give you dual mics for even better audio. This thing is so small that you may not expect much in the way of audio recording but by adding an additional microphone, it works better than before.
Plus, there are also new recording modes available, Pre-recording, Loop Recording, and Timed Capture. The Timed Capture lets you set a specific time and then it will power on to start recording! This is great for those times you want to get a sunrise timelapse but you also want to sleep in on vacation. 🙂
This little camera will ship with the great magnet pendant that you can wear under your shirt and the magnetic-backed Insta360 GO 3 will fasten right on to keep it in front of you for all your POV action. It also comes with an Easy Clip for things like hats or backpacks and a reusable sticky mount Pivot Stand for setting it up for some cool angles.
Lastly, it still has its magnetic back which means you can slap it on anything metal. I tried it out last time with my car and it held on just fine!
The Insta360 GO 3 is in stock and shipping with 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage options. The starting price is $379, a $80 increase over the Insta360 GO 2. With the inclusion of the Action Pod, I think that is reasonable. Just remember that this camera does not have a storage card option so go with the storage size you think you will need!
My Insta360 GO 3 arrives tomorrow so I will be putting it through its paces for a more in-depth review.
