If you are not familiar with Chromebooks, it is the lineup of laptops that exist with Google’s Chrome OS on it instead of something like Mac OS or Windows. It is streamlined and meant for the person who is very into the cloud or that needs a basic laptop to do many tasks simply and cheaply. Some of them can even have Android apps loaded on them!

Of course, if you want to go high end, Google has their own Pixelbooks that will give you internals that will rival many other laptops with regular operating systems on them. Just because it is for cloud-based computing does not mean you cannot get some serious work done as many vendors roll out web-based versions of their apps that make it perfect for Chromebooks.

These Chromebooks are really great for someone that just needs a cheap little laptop for stuff on the go. I have used them before for trips where I knew things were going to be a more rough on the go and I did not want to bring my expensive laptop. These still let me write, do e-mail, transfer images, and do some web work and shopping. Sure, phones can do some of this but it is always nice to have a real keyboard!
