The Plane That Hit The Buffalo

I just read a news report about a SpiceJet (an Indian airline) plane, a 737, that hit a buffalo as it was gathering speed for takeoff. Fortunately, no crew or passengers were injured but I am certain that had to be a very nervous moment.

The crew said that the buffalo was not plain to see against the black background and they collided before takeoff. The buffalo was killed in the accident. I have heard of many things that collided with or interrupted an aircraft on takeoff but this is the first time that I had heard of a collision between a commercial airliner and a buffalo.

Passengers were moved to a different plane and their flight got off without incident. This occured in the Indian city of Surat.
