There are a lot of excuses reasons given for missing flights – overslept, flat tire, sick, mistaken day of departure, and many others. Now, some passengers are using this one – they cannot find the airport!
Hawaiian airline Mokulele Airlines is the first airline to service a newly converted commercial airport on Oahu. The airport, Kalaeloa Airport, is about 20 miles away from Honolulu International Airport. Passengers are saying they cannot find the airport!
Apparently, the route for the airport is not very well marked and passengers have been unable to find the airport. The airline says this is costing them (the airline) a lot of money and this needs to be fixed. Given the fact that the cancellation/change fee is only $20, that must be why the airline is saying they are losing money. I imagine many passengers end up calling to cancel/change the flight (with a fee that low) when they are unable to find the airport.
Hey, I still think it is better for the passengers to not be able to find the airport than it is for pilots to not be able to find the (right) airport.
