This past weekend, Southwest extended their booking schedule until November 2. This new Southwest sale is the first one that will give you sale prices on travel for the fall so definitely check it out!
Now Live: First Southwest Sale that Covers Fall Travel
Link: Southwest Sale
While Southwest is going more for the whole March Madness look with this sale, the really good part is that this is the first time tickets have been on sale for travel in October. Sure, if you want other travel, this sale has that as well but this is a good time to start locking in some sale prices for the dates that were just opened up a few days ago.
Southwest Sale Details:
- Purchase from March 19 through March 21, 2019, 11:59 p.m. in the respective time zone of the originating city.
- Continental U.S. travel valid April 9 through June 12, 2019, and August 20 through October 30, 2019.
- Travel to/from San Juan, Puerto Rico valid September 4 through October 30, 2019.
- International travel valid April 23 through May 16, 2019, and August 20 through October 30, 2019.
- Continental U.S. travel blacked out May 23-24, May 27, August 30, September 2, 2019.
Yes, you can pretty much locate the holidays by looking at the blacked out dates. 🙂 Also, Southwest has carved out dates in the summer that will not be included in this sale but here’s a little secret – they still are for many city pairs and dates! 🙂 This is typically the case with Southwest sales – they will mark out certain dates that will not be included but it is more to not get you excited (I think) because the dates are often still on sale.
The cheapest city pair is the usual Long Beach – Las Vegas route but there are a host of other cheap city pairs as well. These crisscross the country, too, so make sure you check for going north-south or east-west for your preferred cities.
Don’t forget to check your current reservations, thanks to the friendly Southwest cancellation and change policy!
Check Your Already-Booked Reservations For Price Difference
So, now is the time to search for your tickets within this sale and see if you have a better price available now than when you had booked it. If the price has dropped, you simply select to change the flight and look at the same dates and flights again. Once you go through and confirm, you will receive a refund of the difference in miles and the cash for the taxes will be transferred for the new ticket.
In 1 Minute, You Can Have Your Points Back!
The whole process takes less than 60 seconds and you could save a lot of money or points! If you had booked your ticket in the past using cash, you will receive a refund in the form of a credit that is usable for 1 year from the time you originally booked the ticket. If you booked it with points, you will receive the points back in your account for the difference.
