New Year’s Eve and the ball drop in Times Square is just a few days away and most people would think that the hotels in that area have long been booked up. Well, they would be wrong! There are still hotel rooms available and some of them are even bookable with points – at standard levels!

If you are going to be in New York City or it is something that you had always wanted to do, you can get some great value for your Hilton points right now! Just remember – the cancellation date for these rates is long past so only book if you know you are going to stay!
Hampton Inn Manhattan / Times Square Central
This hotel is 1 block from the Times Square metro and has free breakfast – and points availability for what is the busiest night of the year in this area.
You can book a 1 King room or 2 Double bed room for the same rate of 70,000 points for the night of December 31, 2019. The cash cost? $710 after taxes for a point value of just over 1 cent per point!
Hilton Garden Inn New York / Time Square Central
At this location, you can only book a Queen bed room with rooms that offer views of the city or Times Square running from 331,000 points to almost 1 million points for the night!
But, if you just want something close to the action to sleep in, who cares what the views are? The award rate is 70,000 points for the night with the cash cost post taxes ringing in at $786 for the night for a point value of just over 1.1 cents per point!
Hilton Times Square
I have stayed in this hotel and was quite surprised at how the large the rooms are – for any city, but especially for New York City. The entrance is at street level but you will go up an elevator to get to the hotel itself.
This property charges a $30 “destination charge” (aka, resort fee) that will include $20 credit to the Pinnacle Bar, $10 credit in the Coffee Kiosk or lunch/dinner in the restaurant. It also includes all domestic long-distance calls.
This has two room types available – Queen bed room and King bed room with a fridge. Yeah, the fridge part could be helpful and since it costs the same, opt for that! Each room is 80,000 points for the night. The post-tax cash cost is $1,307 per night, giving a point value of 1.6 cents per point!
Millennium Times Square New York
If you want something little different from the Hilton Garden Inn variety, the DoubleTree’s Millennium Times Square could be for you. This also assesses a $25 destination charge and doesn’t really give you anything of monetary value with that (except some discount coupons for shopping).
This hotel also costs 80,000 points per night but just $660 post-tax in cash. That means you are “only” getting a value of .825 cents per point, still a nice deal for Hilton points
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel New York Times Square West
If you want something just a bit away from the noise, this hotel, located .5 mile away, will give you that while still giving you great value for your Hilton points.
It costs 70,000 points per night with a post-tax cash price of $813 for a point value of 1.1 cents per point.
There are many other Hilton properties in New York City and near midtown Manhattan for that night but these were some of the closest and best value for the points. By far, Hilton has the best options for point fans for New Year’s Eve at Times Square so check it out and book if interested.
Bonus for Hyatt Point Fans!
If you have Hyatt points and would rather use those (especially if you need one more night for your next elite level), there is one place near Times Square available with points.
That is the Hyatt Place New York City / Times Square. Post-tax in cash, this would cost you $645 but just 20,000 points for a free night. That equates to a point value of 3.2 cents per point, a very healthy value for Hyatt points!
