This new Amex Business Gold offer can give you 70,000 Membership Reward points after meeting the required spending. Plus, you can get up to $300 in statement credits for select business spending.

If you are looking for a new card and have never had the American Express Business Gold card before, this could be a good time to get it! It has doubled the sign-up bonus and thrown in $300 in statement credits for certain business expenses.

The American Express Business Gold card can be a valuable business card to have. It pays out bonus points on popular business spending categories and those points are the valuable Membership Reward points that can be transferred to many travel partners. Personally, I value those points at about 1.8 cents per point which would make me think of this offer as being worth about $1,260 (minus the $295 fee) – a net $965 value offer on the points alone.

Here are the details of this offer:

  • Earn 70,000 Membership Reward points after spending $10,000 in the first 3 months
  • Earn up to $300 in Statement Credits ($150 back on both U.S. advertising media and U.S. shipping for a total of $300 – must be used in the first 3 months)
  • Earn 4X Membership Reward points on the 2 categories where your business spent the most each billing cycle from this list:
    • Airfare purchased directly from airlines
    • U.S. purchases for advertising select media (online, TV, radio)
    • U.S. purchases made directly from select technology providers of computer hardware, software, and cloud solutions
    • U.S. purchases at gas stations
    • U.S. purchases at restaurants
    • U.S. purchases for shipping
  • 25% Airline Bonus – receive 25% of your Membership Reward points back after you use Pay With Points for all or part of an eligible fare booked with American Express Travel, up to 250,000 points back per calendar year
  • Annual fee – $295 (not waived)

If you spend in any of those categories, this would definitely be a card you may want to consider holding, in spite of the annual fee amount. For sure, I would say that this card offer is worth it for the points alone – even with the annual fee.

So, should you get it? If you have a small business of some kind and can swing the $10,000 in spending required to get the points, I think it is a strong small business card offer. But, I also understand that many small businesses are not spending a lot right now so definitely make sure you are in a position to meet that spending without overreaching before you commit to this offer.

Different Option?

If you prefer Chase Ultimate Reward points instead, I would definitely go for this offer instead if you want a smaller annual fee – you can pick your favorite of the three offers available! – Chase Business Card Offers (this link also gives me points if you are approved)
