Last year, I posted about the awesome opportunity to fly the Qatar QSuites for just 37,500 Avios. With the British Airways Avios devaluation ready to strike in just two days, I wanted to post about it again to remind you to book it before it is too late!

Enjoy 6+ Hours of Qatar QSuites for Just 37,500 Avios and Taxes
If you haven’t seen it yet, check out my review of the Qatar QSuites – to put it simply, Qatar Airways really nailed their motto of “First in Business” since it has a nice blend of first class luxury in a business class cabin. This post will show you how you can enjoy it for over 6 hours for just 37,500 Avios!
British Airways Avios for the Win!
There is a way that you can try it out for yourself, without burning a ton of miles or cash. There are many Qatar Qsuite routes around the world now and this ever-expanding route network of QSuite-equipped airplanes is making it easier to experience this awesome business class cabin.
Since British Airways is a Qatar Airways alliance partner, you can use their points to book Qatar awards. Also, British Airways uses distance as the deciding factor for how many Avios to take from you in exchange for that awesome seat. This is what makes British Airways Avios the points of choice for this particular redemption.
Getting Avios
Fortunately, Avios are the some easiest currency to earn as they are transfer partners of some major credit card programs. That means if you have Marriott points, Chase Ultimate Reward points, or American Express Membership Reward points, you can transfer them over to British Airways Avios and away you go!
Doha – Germany is Your Journey
There are currently several routes that Qatar Airways has put their QSuites aircraft on (planes like their 777-300 and A350-1000). They are Munich, and Frankfurt. Each of these routes falls within the distance band that allows you to only have to spend 37,500 Avios for a one way ticket in a QSuites suite!
If you start your QSuites journey from Doha, you will pay around $125 in taxes and fees. Starting from Germany will bump that up a bit more.
Searching and Booking
There are a couple of caveats – one is that Qatar is placed their A380 on one of the Frankfurt routes this May so that means you will have to select the other route featuring the QSuites 777-300 to enjoy the experience. Another caveat is that Qatar can and sometimes does swap out aircraft on some routes so you will want to keep an eye on the seating configuration of the airplane you are booked on. This is what the QSuites cabin looks like
To search for your particular flight, head over to British Airways website and search to book with Avios. Frankfurt, and Munich will all show up as 37,500 Avios in business. Simply select it (when you find one available), pay, and you are good to go!
Booking Tips
To find availability, make sure you search on AA.com and use their “non-stop” drop down option and calendar view to find the Qatar options. Remember, you are booking with Avios, but AA is a better search engine.
Next, it is better to book now as it is not that expensive to cancel flights and refund your Avios. For flights departing Doha, it will cost about $55. For flights departing Germany, it will cost about $48.
Finally, if you want to try out Qatar’s First Class cabin on their A380 (the only way to try it), they fly their A380 on one of their Frankfurt – Doha routes. That will cost you 50,000 Avios. While I really enjoy the Suites, if you want to try first class, this could be the last chance to try it at anything close to that amount of Avios!
Summary
Booking the QSuites is the start of a very fun journey. Just keep an eye on your seat map as time gets closer to your trip to see if they swap it out for a different configuration. As Qatar rolls out their QSuite planes with greater frequency, you should not have that much of a problem.
