Here is a partnership that is sure to move the needle for some New York City based travelers when it comes to choosing the airline to fly! Last night, JetBlue and BLADE announced a partnership that will help JetBlue fliers fly helicopter flights to/from NYC and their JetBlue flights. Here are the details.
JetBlue and BLADE Partner to Offer Discounts, Free Helicopter Flights, and Perks
Here is the news straight from BLADE:
“Born and bred in New York, BLADE and JetBlue have officially teamed up to provide fliers with access to preferred pricing on BLADE Airport, allowing fliers to swap up to two hours of ground congestion for a five-minute flight.
Coming soon, TrueBlue and Mosaic members will receive 10% and 25%, respectively, off their first-ever BLADE Airport flight, while Mosaic+ members will receive up to 4 free BLADE Airport seats when connecting to or from JetBlue flights. Mosaic+ members will also receive complimentary BLADE Flex upgrades, waiving cancellation and change fees up to 1 hour prior to departure.
We are also expanding BLADE Airport service for our entire flier base, introducing more flights, including new East Side service, to harmonize with JetBlue’s growing international schedule operating out of JFK. With BLADE Airport you can fly between Manhattan and JFK or Newark Airport six days a week, up to 13 hours a day—all in just 5 minutes from $195/seat.”
What does this mean for JetBlue flyers? When this does roll out shortly, all TrueBlue members (free to sign-up for) will get 10% off the $195 per seat price for their first BLADE Airport flight. If you have elite status with JetBlue, called Mosaic status, expect to make that a 25% discount off your first flight.
For those that spend a lot of money on JetBlue flights or on the JetBlue credit card ($150,000+ per year on the card on all purchases), the special level of Mosaic+ is there. Already, that includes special perks like 4 upgrades per year from economy to JetBlue Mint and now that level will also include up to 4 free BLADE flights. Mosaic+ also gives other perks with BLADE as well.
I’m eager to see how it works in real life. For those fliers with tight schedules, even just getting the BLADE option in front of you as a JetBlue flier will likely make many think about paying for that 5 minute flight as opposed to long-delays and crowded transportation hubs from airport to city.
