Track Runners in the 2025 Boston Marathon

The Boston Athletic Association has you covered when it comes to keeping an eye on either the elite runners or your friends and family that are running. They highly recommend you download the Boston Marathon app which will let you easily track your favorite runners. You can download it for iOS here and Android here.

You can also check right here on their webpage after the race kicks off (using the times above to get a sense of the tracking times – remember that the first checkpoint is at 5K and in 5K increments after that). On the page, if you scroll down, you can get access to the leaderboards for each of the 4 main categories of the marathon.

If you are in New England, you can catch all the action on WCVB. If you are outside their area of coverage, you can catch in on the ESPN. They will broadcast it on their flagship channel from 8:30 a.m. ET until 12:30 p.m. ET. They will also be showing coverage within SportsCenter.

Weather for the 2025 Boston Marathon

Running a marathon in New England in April means you can face all kinds of weather! It has been very hot, very cold, very windy, and very rainy. For today, the weather forecast for the marathon is partly cloudy with a temperature of 46-57 degrees.

I know if this was me, I’m hoping for the clouds to hang around but temperatures of 50s sound really good to me! Plus, with an overcast sky, that could keep it from having to much of a beating sun. The wind is just a 5 mph and the humidity is fairly low so I would call this a great day for a marathon!

Bottom Line

There are many elite runners running today. Hellen Obiri is attempting to be the first woman since 1999 to win three Boston marathons in a row. Sara Hall is running her 4th Boston Marathon and turned in a time of 2:23:45 in Valencia in December. With that time, she lowered the American record for a masters woman by almost 4 minutes. Previous Boston Marathon winner Des Linden will also be toeing the line this year and she has announced this will be her final professional marathon so definitely watch for her!

Sisay Lemma was the men’s winner last year and did it in 2:06:17 after running a killer race that looked like he may break the course record. He won last year and a few months before that, he hit a blazing 2:01:48 at Valencia, good enough for the 4th fastest time in marathon history. Previous two-time winner Evans Chebet will also be toeing the line.

For the American contingent, training partners Connor Mantz and Clayton Young, both having represented the US in the Olympic marathon last summer and finishing in the top 10, will be running. For Conner’s part, he broke the American half-marathon record (set by Ryan Hall 18 years ago) at the same marathon Ryan did it (Houston) in a huge 59:17 time. He could have a shot today. CJ Albertson, a 2:08:17 runner, and Zach Panning (finished 5th for the Olympic trials) will also be running.

However, there are also almost 30,000 other runners that are going to be running out their dream of finishing the Boston Marathon so if you are in the area, head down to cheer them on! Otherwise, look for your friends/family on this tracking link.

And, GOOD LUCK to all the 2025 Boston Marathon runners!
