I have owned/used most of the Garmin watches that have come over the last 16 years, starting with my very first which was the Garmin Forerunner 201 and up to now with my Garmin Fenix 6 Sapphire. So, I know the full lineup of Garmin watches a bit (not as much as DC Rainmaker, though, so definitely check out his site for very in-depth technical analysis on each Garmin as it comes out). I will list the best Garmin GPS watch sales below and make comments on what I think are some of the best deals.
Garmin vs Apple Watch
If you are an Apple Watch fan, a Garmin watch will not replace the Apple Watch for you. It does offer smart notifications but those are one-way with Apple iPhones and you do not have the huge app store that Apple offers. But, Garmin watches have much better battery life and fitness features/sensors so if you want to go more that way, Garmin is for you. Not to mention there are several Garmin watches (specifically the Fenix line) that has far better build quality.

Which Garmin to Choose?
If you want battery life, Enduro is for you. They last for days and are actually quite lightweight, especially considering their size. But, if you want things like maps and music storage to go along with that battery life (though down a bit from Enduro), the Fenix 6 line is for you! Here is a quick look at the variations of Fenix watches.
- “S” suffixes is for the smallest version at 42mm, the watches with no letter after “6” is a 47mm, and the “X” is the 51mm
- The base model does not have maps or music storage onboard, as well as some features that have to be downloaded from Garmin Connect instead of being onboard already.
- The Pro model includes those things already
- The Sapphire model includes a Sapphire glass to the watch to really protect it even more
- Some versions have a Titanium material which makes it more durable (the actual watch) as well as lighter. Other versions include DLC – diamond like coating – which also offers increased protection but not as light as titanium
- Solar versions come with solar strips around the inside of the watch crystal to help boost battery life. The Solar models are the latest releases of the Fenix 6 line
That’s it! Now, if you want something like solar with sapphire, you have to jump to the very military focused Tactix Delta watch. That is basically a Fenix with some upgraded features for military users and those that want the absolute best out of a Fenix version.
For the Forerunner models, the Forerunner 945 LTE is basically the 945 with some newer features and LTE onboard which lets you get a contract for things like messages and live tracking. The 745 is a smaller version of the 945 and does not include maps. I used both for a while and actually really enjoyed the 745. If it had maps, it would probably be my favorite Garmin overall.
When it comes to the Venu line, these are more of the lifestyle/fitness Garmin watches. They have colorful screens and touch screens but do not have all the features and sensors that the Forerunner and Fenix versions have. The Vivoactive is like a mix between the runner-focused Forerunner lines and the Venu lineup.
All of these are some of the best prices ever for each watch listed. Amazon may have some better deals on Black Friday for some but I am guessing it will not be on the high-end watches. Even so, you have until January 31, 2022 to return anything sold/shipped by Amazon so no worries there!
