Language learning can be a fun (and sometimes, annoying) exercise. I know that many travelers are only hitting a foreign country for a couple of weeks and really studying a language for that short of time may not be of interest, but learning languages that may be common in many countries can be helpful. The more you travel, the more you realize that Americans are in the minority when it comes to second languages. While many people around the world can speak some English, it would be nice to be able to have a little bit of a knowledge of the local language.
18X United Miles And Best Price On Rosetta Stone
If that sounds interesting and something you would like to work on, this is one of the best deals you will encounter on a highly rated language program – Rosetta Stone. I have used Rosetta Stone for a couple of languages and it is really helpful. It not only helps you be able to speak and understand a language to varying degrees but it also helps with understanding how to read it.
Thanks to Dan in the comments for pointing out that you need to have a United credit card to get the 18 – otherwise, it is 12 miles per dollar.
Today only, you can earn 18 United miles per dollar when shopping through the United MileagePlus shopping portal. This is the highest portal payout I have seen on Rosetta Stone and it is also one of the best prices I have seen on the Rosetta Stone programs. Normally, the absolute cheapest prices are not available through shopping portals, but this one is different and you can maximize the best of the two deals with this. If you purchase one of the programs at the $189 price (that is the price for Level 1-5 programs, Level 1-3 programs are available for $179), you will receive 3,400 United miles. That is an incredible deal, especially considering that the value of the United miles would be around $55.
There could be an opportunity to manufacture some miles through this promo as you could dump the programs on eBay for close to the same price (you would have to wait until after the holiday season for the regular price to go back up). Some of the best selling programs are the Chinese and Spanish (Latin America) programs.
Go to the United MileagePlus shopping portal and search for Rosetta Stone (or look for it on the scrolling banner of the portal). Once you click through, it will take you to the Rosetta Stone landing page that you can see above. Here are the languages offered:
- Arabic
- Chinese (Mandarin)
- Dari
- Dutch
- English (American)
- English (British)
- Filipino (Tagalog)
- French
- German

Man this is tempting to try and pull off for a resale opportunity…
One note that I just found out. It looks like if you don’t have the United MileagePlus credit card you only get 12x miles. That’s what it showed me at first, but once I logged in (I have the card), then it showed the 18x
[…] was mildly tempted by the reselling opportunities of the 18x United Miles for Rosetta Stone (as reported by Running With Miles), but I can only seem to get the $199 price and with tax it is […]
