Southwest pretty much killed what they had been known for and had advertised about for years – “Bags Fly Free”. That is no longer true for many travelers, in fact, I would argue it’s not true for any of the travelers as you have to either spend a lot of money flying with them, have their credit card, or pay more for fare classes that offer it. In the wake of that devastating change, Frontier has jumped in to try and lure some of those Southwest faithful away – with the same deals that Southwest has been known for.

Frontier may not be an airline people think of when it comes to cheap fares with everything included. They actually do have cheap flights but you have to normally pay for anything. Well, those things are now included while Frontier tries to convince Southwest customers to give them a try.
Here is what the “New” Frontier is offering to customers:
- Flights from $39 (only for Discount Den members – for others, it starts at $49)
- Free carry-on bag
- Free seat assignments
- Free flight changes

Southwest is well-known for offering their great sale prices starting at $39 so Frontier is going for that. They also let you choose a seat ahead of time (which Southwest doesn’t give you with their boarding process) and free flight changes – as well as the free carry-on and checked bag.
Altogether, these things could be enough to get some flyers to give Frontier a chance. I am sure their scheduling department will be on their best behavior during all of this as well (their scheduling issues have caused some problems for family in the past with some ridiculous overnights) so this could be a great deal for anyone wanting to save money and make a point against Southwest.
