How would you feel if you were evacuated from a hotel while police busted a small meth lab in a nearby room? That is what happened in this case!

It is amazing what some people think they can get away with in a hotel (and what many people probably do get away with!). Fortunately, this one couple got nabbed for running a meth lab – in a hotel room!

Couple Busted Running a Meth Lab in a Hotel Room

This past week, a man and a woman were caught running a meth lab when someone reported seeing smoke coming from underneath the door of their Courtyard Marriott hotel room around 4 in the morning.

The hotel room was located on the 4th floor (more privacy than a ground floor but also a bit high for an escape if needed) at the Courtyard Marriott in Noblesville, IN (about 40 miles from the Indianapolis International Airport). The police responded and found a functioning meth lab, which, according to police, is not unusual to find in places like hotel rooms as well as cars and garages.

The hotel was partially evacuated to be on the safe side while police handled the room. These labs can be quite dangerous so it was definitely a good move, no matter how inconvenient it would have been to guests.

According to the news report, this particular hotel “targets weekday business travelers and weekend family outings.”

Too Much Privacy In Hotels?

I am sure this is far from a rare occurence but when I saw the report, I couldn’t help but think about how things like this and other criminal activities that take place in hotel rooms or from hotel rooms. Will these incidents spur on a change with hotels and how they handle the privacy issue with guests. Will it soon be a requirement to have your room serviced or at least checked on every day instead of every 3 days or so?

I am just thankful that no one was hurt and that the police were able to handle the situation in safe way. Also glad I was not a customer at the hotel at the time. 🙂
