Citibank, along with American Airlines, have what they are calling special holiday offers. They have three separate cards that will give you up to 50,000 American Airline AAdvantage miles after meeting the various spending requirements. These offers run through December 28th.
Citi Platinum Select / AAdvantage Visa Signature Card – 40,000 AAdvantage miles after $3,000 in 3 months and an additional 10,000 miles after spending $10,000 in the first 12 months of card membership – Application Link (I do not receive a commission for this link)
Citi Executive / AAdvantage World Elite Mastercard – 40,000 AAdvantage miles after $3,000 in 3 months and an additional 10,000 miles after spending $10,000 in the first 12 months of card membership – Application Link (I do not receive a commission for this link)
Citi Business / AAdvantage World Mastercard – 40,000 AAdvantage miles after $3,000 in 3 months and an additional 10,000 miles after spending $10,000 in the first 12 months of card membership – Application Link (I do not receive a commission for this link)
Be warned that the middle card, the World Elite Mastercard, comes with a $450 annual fee that is not waived for the first year. The other cards have $95 annual fees and they are waived for the first year. Obviously, the Elite card would be better used by a regular American Airlines flyer.
I have to be honest, I do not remember ever having flown on American Airlines! I have never had a need to use them since Delta and United had always served my purposes well and came in with better pricing. However, they have some amazing award possibilities! I have begun to work with them more and more lately as I am working with different people who’s needs coincide with American Airline award possibilities. One of the amazing deals with them is their off-peak awards. You have to fly American Airlines metal and they are only available in economy, but they are some really great deals! For example, North America – Europe off-peak is only 20,000 miles one-way and the off-peak calendar is October 15 – May 15. So, with this type of credit card deal, you would get enough miles for an economy off-peak ticket to Europe after fulfilling the $3,000 spending. Not bad!
Some of the other great deals with American Airlines are actually not on American Airlines but using their partners. There are some great airlines that partner with AA and the availability is actually pretty good. I will have a write-up soon about how I used my AA miles to book a one-way on Cathay Pacific to Sri Lanka for my trip next month. I am definitely learning more about AA and looking forward to passing it on to you! So, while you wait to see how you can use them, take advantage of these American Airlines Citibank offers before it is too late!
