This morning, I was flying an Aegean flight and heard them announce that it was the anniversary of Aegean and Olympic Airlines merging and Aegean was celebrating by giving away one roundtrip ticket to someone on each Aegean flight today. Unfortunately, I did not win it. 🙂 But, I thought it was a pretty cool gesture on the part of Aegean.
Celebration Sales
Fare Sales To/From Athens and Larnaca (Cyprus)
For everyone that is not on an Aegean flight today, Aegean is allowing others to celebrate by more fare sales online. One of them is on flights to and from Athens and Larnaca(found here). With this sale, tickets from Athens are from 37 euro and 24 euro to Athens. Flights from Larnaca to Athens are 39 euro and 44 euro to Thessaloniki. They must be booked by November 2 and good for travel between November 15 – June 30, 2015. This would be a nice way to knock out the 4 Aegean segments (for Star Alliance Gold) if you are going to be in Europe before July.
25% Off Domestic Award Redemption
The other is a 25% off fare sale on domestic award tickets. That brings the roundtrip price on direct award tickets to 9,374 miles instead of 12,500 miles. If you wanted to go for business class (which would be a horrible idea), it is down to 13,500 from 18,000 miles roundtrip. Remember – award flights on Aegean/Olympic flights are priced by segments so non-stop flights will be cheapest. Also, don’t forget the 48 euro in taxes and fees – you are pretty much better off just buying a ticket if you need one than redeeming miles.
