THE 30,000 STARPOINT OFFER HAS EXPIRED. THE OFFER IS BACK TO THE NORMAL 25,000 STARPOINTS.
The 30,000 EXPIRED – now 25,0000 SPG American Express Offer is set to expire September 3rd. This limited-time offer (30,000 Starpoints instead of 25,000) comes around this time each year for the last several years. It is not the most groundbreaking of increases but it does give you 5,000 more Starpoints with the offer (and Starpoints are among some of the most valuable of point currencies). Because there are no category bonuses with this card, it takes $5,000 in spending to get those same 5,000 bonus points outside of this limited-time offer. Yes, those 5,000 Starpoints can be achieved through manufactured spending, but why worry about that when you can get them now? 🙂

Starpoints are extremely valuable given their flexibility. They can be used for free nights, for Cash&Point nights, for room upgrades, for cutting the rack rate in half, for Nights&Flights, for flights, for transfer to airline programs (with a 5,000 mile bonus for every 20,000 points transferred), SPG Moments, and for gift cards. As you can see, that is a big list! This is sure to fit just about everyone. Here are some posts that I have written about Starpoints in the past:
- Increased Bonus Offer for American Express SPG Cards
- 3 Reasons for the Runner to Apply for the SPG Card
- Start Planning Your Boston Marathon – SPG Edition

So, if you believe that either one (or both) of these cards would work for you in your travel plans, now would be the time to apply for these cards. Should you choose to do so, I would be most grateful if you used my links. I will receive a commission if you are approved using my links – thank you!
