The United MileagePlus Explorer card has been at 30,000 miles on the public offer for almost a year. The 50,000 mile offer has been targeted for the same time but now it appears it is more widely available than before.
United Personal Card Offer For Up To 55,000 Miles + $50 [Targeted But More Widely Available]
This is one of the cards I check on often to see if the better offer of 50,000 miles is showing up. A while ago, it was no longer visible on any of the accounts I have access to and was only revealing 30,000 miles.
Today, it is showing 50,000 miles + $50 on all the accounts I have access to except 1 (that is, 6 United accounts are showing the 50,000 mile offer). It was last April when the 50,000 mile offer went public so maybe they are rolling it out more widely now in preparation for a public offer soon. In any event, time to check to see if you have the offer if this is a card you want!
Checking For The Offer
To start, go to this link and it will ask you to enter your Mileage Plus information. Once you enter it, it will bring you to the offer. If you have the 50,000 mile offer, you are all set! Simply spend $2,000 in 3 months and you will receive the 50,000 miles.
If you only have the 30,000 mile offer, do not apply now! Just wait and keep checking to see if it becomes available to you later.

This is a great time to get this card if you want to rack up United miles. That is because you can earn a 10,000 mile bonus if you spend $25,000 on this card in a calendar year. We still have plenty of 2016 left so you can get spending!
Getting an additional 5,000 miles
The card itself comes with a 50,000 mile bonus. To get the extra 5,000 miles, you must add an authorized user and make a purchase in the first three months. To add that user, all you need to do is to select to speak to a customer service representative when you call to activate the card (if you do not add them at the time of application). Once you speak with them, give them the name of your authorized user and you are all set!
Make sure you do not add the person as joint on the card or else it could prevent them from getting the bonus!
Summary
This is a great offer. By itself, it leaves you just a few miles short of a roundtrip ticket from the US to Europe in coach. That is really great and a wonderful use of miles! If you are targeted, I would certainly go ahead and get this card.
