We have had quite a few Amex offers associated with hotels over the last few months (some still going on like the Hilton offer, Miami offers, and any hotel). While we we would, of course, like to use points for all hotel stays, sometimes we need to pay for hotels. For situations like that, these Amex Offers on paid hotel stays work really well!
Save $100 On $600 At Hotels With New Amex Offer
Targeted But On Twitter!
This one was only one of my cards so it is targeted. Make sure you check all of your Amex cards for it as it is worth saving, just in case! But, you can save it to your cards using Twitter- #amextravel100
Getting the Offer
Log in to your American Express account and scroll down to the bottom. You will see Amex Offers & Benefits. Select it and add the offers you want to your card. Make sure you make note of which card you save it to.
To maximize it, add the offer to separate cards, simply login to your American Express account and then choose to duplicate the tab (if using Google Chrome) as many times as you have cards. Once they are all open, select a different Amex card in each tab and select to save the offer to the card.
Make sure you save these offers as soon as you can – using the tip above to maximize – as they are limited enrollment and when they are gone, they are gone! Even if they disappear, as long as you have saved the offer, you are all set.
Save $100 On $600 At Hotels
This offer is for prepaid hotels through AmexTravel.com. Unfortunately, it does exclude the Fine Hotels & Resorts part of Amex. Here are the details:
- Spend $600 on a prepaid hotel reservations through Amextravel.com and get $100 back
- Expires 3/15/16
- Valid only at US websites through Amextravel.com
As to the expiration date, it only says that the reservation needs to be made (and that would be paid for) by 3/15 so your stay could be after that time.
Lowest Price Guarantee
Amextravel.com does have a lowest price guarantee, though I have never used it. At least this way you could take some comfort that you are (likely) not paying more by using this website than using a regular OTA. Here are the details about this guarantee:
Hotel “Lowest Rate Guaranteed” Terms and Conditions:
If you book a qualifying prepaid hotel rate on amextravel.com and then find the same room, in the same hotel, for the same dates, the same number of children and adults, at a lower price online, before taxes and fees, we’ll refund you the difference. Your claim must be submitted prior to cancellation and/or change fees coming into effect per the hotel’s policies specific to the room you booked on amextravel.com. As an example, if a room rate is subject to cancellation fees starting 72 hours before check-in, the claim must be submitted prior to that time.
How do I identify a qualifying rate?
1) When booking a hotel, look for prepaid rates (easily identifiable with the “Lowest Rate Guaranteed” label).
2) After selecting a hotel, click on the “Room Restrictions and Cancellation Policy” link to review the hotel’s cancellation policy. You have all the way up until the hotel’s cancellation penalty period start date to submit a claim. Note that non-refundable rates are not applicable for this benefit.
What’s the deadline to submit my claim?
You have all the way up until the hotel’s cancellation penalties apply to submit a claim. Since non-refundable rooms are subject to cancellation penalties immediately upon booking, non-refundable rates are not eligible for this benefit. For details on specific hotel cancellation penalties, see the “Room Policies” summary displayed before the completion of your online purchase and on your invoice, including important deadlines. Expect a response to your claim within 72 hours.
How is the refund processed if approved?
If the lower rate was found on another website, American Express Travel will refund the difference to the credit card you used to make your hotel reservation in approximately 15 business days after submission.
If the lower rate is found on the American Express Travel website, American Express Travel will refund your original reservation to the credit card used to make the booking and rebook your new reservation at the lower price using the same card used for payment.
