SPG Moment auctions work like this – if you have the Starpoints, you can bid on the item for whatever amount you want and the bidding will increase incrementally until it reaches your max bid. It is just like on eBay except you are using points. There is one difference to note that if a bid comes in with 5 minutes or less in the auction, the auction will be extended.
The part that makes some SPG Moment auctions have a greater value beyond the title are typically going to be any multi-day experience. These auction items include some kind of culinary, sport, or culture events. Even if you do not care about the headline event, these multi-day items often come with hotel stays at Starwood properties that may cost more for a single night than the package may sell for. That is what adds the value.
The other part about it is that many people scroll right by titles that do not interest them so you have an even better shot at these if they do not call out the hotel stay in the title.

Experience a Breathtaking Dinner in the Sky of Athens
This auction is for 2 people and there are 10 packages available. The bidding is currently at 20,000 Starpoints and includes a unique dining experience on an elevated platform suspended 50 meters above Athens. It also includes a 2 night stay at the Category 6 Hotel Grande Bretagne. That requires 20,000-25,000 points per night and the bidding for the whole package is only 20,000 points right now!
It is for June 3 – 5 in Athens, Greece and the auction runs until May 20 at 7AM EDT.

This is another auction in Athens, Greece and also includes a 2 night stay as part of the package – this time at the King George hotel in a suite. This hotel is a Category 5 requiring 12,000 – 16,000 points per night for a basic room.
As part of the package, you will have dinner with this artist and watch her work her artistic skill from the penthouse suite of the hotel. It also comes with daily breakfast and transportation to/from the airport.

This auction takes it to Rome and a SPG Design hotel. It includes a 2 night stay at the G Rough Hotel in Rome, a Category 7 that costs from 30,000 – 35,000 points per night. It also includes the fashion aspect and opportunities along with dinner with the owner of the hotel.
It is for May 26 – 28 in Rome, Italy. The auction runs until May 13 at 7:00AM EDT and is currently at 35,000 points for the package.

Aside from what is in the title, the winner will also receive a 2 night stay at the St. Regis in Dubai. This is also a Category 7 requiring 30,000 – 35,000 points per night. The winner will also receive VIP tickets and seats to the Cup.

I know I have seen packages go for less than a single night redemption would cost at the property in the auction – but the winner received 2 nights and meals and more!
