FlyNiki, the subsiderary of airberlin, is preparing to launch a short, 25 minute international flight. The flight will take place between Vienna and Bratislava and is only 30 miles long. The actual flight should only take around 10 minutes and will take place on an Embraer E190. Service will begin this April and it will be interesting to see how many people take this route.
It certainly sounds like a fun flight! The drive is only about an hour long, so it will remain to be seen how much time this flight actually saves. The flight schedule calls for 25 minutes but you have to factor in the time in the airport as well. The flight is selling for $53 for a one way ticket, if anyone is interested.
While a short flight, it is still not the shortest flight in the world. That honor belongs to the Loganair flight between Papa Westray and Westray UK. That flight takes a mere 47 seconds to complete!
