Unlike normal deals with Apple for shopping portals, no Apple product is excluded! That means you could even buy the just-released 2019 MacBook Pros and get 8 miles per dollar on those! If you bought the mid-range 2019 MacBook Pro 15″, that would add up to almost 19,000 Alaska or United miles – a tidy sum!

Here are the details of this Alaska Mileage Plan and United MilagePlus deal with Apple:

  • Products not eligible are:
    • gift cards
    • gift wrap
    • Bose products
    • Apple Developer Programs
    • shipping
  • Apple sells and ships products to end user customers only; you may not purchase for resale.
  • Eligible only to a customer for up to five (5) units per eligible product, except iPhone, in which case only two (2) units within a thirty-day (30-day) period are eligible.
  • EPP purchases are not eligible.
  • Not eligible on purchases made with coupon or discount codes that are not found on this site.
  • Not eligible on gift cards, gift certificates or any other similar cash equivalents.

Not only are there new MacBook Pros, but they also released new iPads this year (iPad Air and iPad Mini). While the iPad Air is consistently available on Amazon for $20 off, the iPad Mini has not really seen any discounts so this could be a great way to buy one and get something else for your spending!

Summer Shopping Bonus

If you have not yet hit your threshold for the shopping bonuses for summer deals, Alaska is offering an additional 500 miles for spending $200 or more through their portal. That ends today as well so it will match up nicely with the Apple increase!

Which Apple Products Should You Buy?

While 8 miles per dollar is huge, do remember a couple things. iPads consistently see deals from Amazon and Best Buy. Those deals can be as much as $200 off the higher end models (which would equate to a 15% off in some circumstances) or $80 off the cheapest iPad (which corresponds to a 25% discount). If you value Alaska miles at 2 cents per dollar, it could be better deal to buy from Apple with this deal, depending on the iPad.

There are also some decent sales from B&H and Adorama for the new MacBook Pros but you could (if eligible) buy through the education portal and still get a discount and earn miles. Not only that but if you pay retail, you are likely going to get a better value with this portal deal than with a $200 discount from B&H on the latest 15″ MacBook Pro.

All that being said, we will likely see new 12″ MacBooks and maybe even new base 13″ MacBook Pros this year as well as a potential 16″ MacBook Pro. If you are interested in one of those, I would hold off. If you want an iPad Pro, I think the current ones are absolutely fantastic (especially with the latest iPadOS – I am using a public beta but the actual release will be out in September).

If you are thinking about an Apple Watch, I think the Apple Watch Series 5 is going to be more evolutionary than revolutionary so I think this could be a good time to buy an Apple Watch Series 4 also (it would earn 3,190 miles).
