These Hotels Are Bookable For 5,000 Points Starting Today

When it comes to free hotel nights, all hotel points are certainly not created equal. Being able to stay in a hotel for only 5,000 points per night is nothing unusual for most hotel chains – 5,000 points gets you 1 night at a category 1 Hyatt and 1 night at a category 2 Starwood, for example.

What makes this very special is the regular release of many hotels in several categories with IHG being “on sale” for only 5,000 points per night. Some of these hotels may regularly go for 50,000 points per night! Not only that, but IHG points are actually some of the cheapest hotel points to get so that you can literally buy points to stay at any of these hotels for only $35 per night!

Getting the points

There are a variety of ways to get the points necessary for PointBreak hotels. The one thing that I would only do as a last resort is to use Ultimate Rewards. Yes, these hotels are a fantastic value, but 5,000 Ultimate Reward points can be worth, at the minimum, $62. For many of us, we can find common value closer to $75 – $85 for Ultimate Reward points when transferred to partners like Southwest, Hyatt, United, and Singapore. So, only transfer if you cannot obtain points through one of these other methods.

A great way to get a bundle of IHG points is through the ihg credit card which you can read about here. Another way is through purchasing ihg points which you can read about here.

The Intercontinental Mendoza is the only Intercontinental on the list this time

If you are hitting the road in the US this fall, you may find some gems in this list. There are quite a few hotels on major highways and interstates so that can help you save some money on those overnights between long legs of driving. I also liked that the Heathrow Terminal 5 hotel is on this list. That is always helpful if you have an overnight layover in London or just an early flight the next morning

I did find it interesting that IHG places their hotel in Ashkelon under Europe when it is in Israel – oh well! 🙂
