Southwest Sale To Mexico And The Caribbean From $118 [or 6,300 Points]

Southwest sale
Written by Charlie

This Southwest sale ends today and it does seem to be providing a decent discount over regular tickets to Mexico and the Caribbean (it has been going on for a few days but I just noticed it today). While not a huge savings, this sale may be beneficial if you have upcoming travel to Mexico or the Caribbean. Remember, this is one of the great ways to really maximize the Southwest Companion Pass!

This sale ends today (June 11) at 11:59PM in the originating city. Unlike other Southwest sales, this is going to have a higher cash component depending on where you fly (as far as departing from the international city) thanks to extra taxes and fees on international destinations. Still, you will be paying that anyway so might as well get the regular ticket a discount during this little sale!

There are many options and prices available with prices from $118 one way and that city pair is Baltimore-Washington to Nassau, Bahamas at $118 or 6,300 points one way. Be aware that there are some days of the week that some cities and prices are not available for.

Travel valid only on Mondays through Thursdays. Travel to Cancún, Cabo San Lucas/Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta valid only on Sundays through Wednesdays; travel from Cancún, Cabo San Lucas/Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta valid only on Tuesdays through Fridays. Travel valid daily to/from Mexico City.

The sale is good for travel from August 25 – December 16, 2015. The link with details and city pairs can be found here.

While the cheapest prices are for the nonstop cities listed, do check your city (even if it is not listed) as it may not be that much more. I checked for Rochester to the Bahamas and it actually required fewer points even thought the cash cost was a little higher.

Southwest Notes

The Southwest Companion Pass does work for international destinations just like domestic ones, but you will still be paying the taxes and fees for the companion.

Another thing to note is that if you have already booked travel on Southwest to any of these destinations and you find it cheaper now, you can always cancel now and rebook – with cash or with points!

Finally, if you are unsure but do not want to miss a chance to save a few bucks, again, you can cancel your award or cash ticket up to 10 minutes before departure for a refund. The cash ticket will be refunded in the form of a credit to your account and the points will go back to your account. This is without any fees so do not be afraid to book now even if it does not work later.

This sale is with prices from $118 one way and that city pair is Baltimore-Washington to Nassau, Bahamas at $118 or 6,300 points one way.

  • Hi Charlie,
Hope you can help a newbie here:
How to get into Aruba from SFO using this promotion ? I don’t see SW flies to Aruba from SFO. Do I have to buy two separate award flight tickets? If so, is it still a good deal in this case?

    • That is correct. Sometimes, the Southwest international departures will not line up with your flight to get to the U.S. departing airport. In cases like this, you would need to book separate tickets.
