Southwest International Sale Details:

  • Purchase from July 23 through July 25, 2019, 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
  • International travel valid September 3 through December 11, 2019.
  • International travel is valid Monday – Thursday.
    • Travel to Mexico is valid only on Sundays through Wednesdays.
    • Travel from Mexico is valid only on Tuesdays through Fridays.

First things first – you can absolutely use the Southwest Companion Pass on international flights! However, the taxes will be a bit more than the domestic taxes for US trips, especially departing Caribbean countries. But, you are still going to be getting a great deal out of the Companion Pass, especially since many of these places are better enjoyed with another person instead of yourself!

Just remember that many of these flights are occupied by couples/friends/families so on a 3-3 seat Southwest plane, you are likely to find yourself away from your travel partner if you get stuck in a “C” check-in number! I have seen this happen a few times and people always look really disappointed so think ahead and check-in right on time (t-24 hours before departure).

The cheapest city pair is Fort Lauderdale to Nassau, Bahamas. For most of the Caribbean destinations, Fort Lauderdale will the cheapest city to depart from. After that, check out other major airports in the south like Atlanta to get some good deals.

From Mexico, Belize, Jamaica, Costa Rica, and more, there are plenty of beautiful destinations to head to for some nice weather in October, November, and early December. Just imagine how cold it will be where you are now at that time and it may help you start planning a beach holiday. 🙂

Also, many of these destinations have a lot more to offer than just a beach! But, if you are just looking for a beach, you could pretty much just choose any of those countries for a really great spot. 🙂
