Thanks to a new offer, you can get 50,000 Delta Skymiles with this card. If you get the personal and business, that is 100,000 Delta Skymiles. While they aren’t as valuable as they once were, you can still get a lot of value out of them!

American Express has launched a limited-time offer on their Delta Gold card. It has bumped from 30,000 Skymiles to 50,000 miles after meeting the minimum spending. For now, this is only on the Delta Gold card, not the Delta Platinum card.

Nice offer on the Delta Gold card

From now through November 17, new applicants of the American Express Delta Gold card can get 50,000 Skymiles after spending $2,000 in 3 months. The $50 statement credit kicks in after you have made a Delta purchase in that same timeframe.

While 50,000 Skymiles does not get you everything it used to, it is still worth at least $500 since you can use miles in a Pay-With-Miles use for 1 cent per mile when buying tickets. For some people, that may be just what they need. For others, 50,000 miles will still get you places as an award and can certainly help fatten up your account if you have another redemption in mind.

Should You Apply?

If you are just getting into miles and points, chances are that you have not yet received this card. If that is the case, it is a nice, easy way to pick up a lot of Delta miles which can be useful for many different kinds of travel. At the low level, you can get 2 roundtrip tickets in the US out of it and it is just 60,000 miles shy of a trip to Europe and back. Not bad for not paying an annual fee up front!

Card Limits

But, if you have ever had the personal card before, then you are not eligible to receive the bonus on this card again. That is their policy so don’t even bother applying as you will not get the miles.

Also, you cannot hold more than 4 American Express credit cards (business or personal) at once, so if you do have 4, you will have to close one to get a new card (charge cards do not count).

However, the business card does not have that restriction. As long as you have not had the card in the last 12 months, you are eligible to get the business card bonus again. It is offering the same 50,000 miles so you still stand to get quite a few miles!

After you have applied, check out this link to get application status.

Summary

At the end of the day, miles help to make travel possible for less. Getting a bunch of miles at once is always a good thing. With Amex’s restrictive policy on personal card bonuses, there will be many that will wait for the 100,000 mile bonus to come back to the Gold card again. While I don’t think a public offer like that is in our future, it is possible that a 75,000 mile bonus may come out. If you are content sitting back and waiting, by all means go with what you feel comfortable.

But, if you like nearly free travel, Delta Skymiles can still take you places and here is a way to get 100,000 Delta Skymiles (if you get both cards) without much effort.
